As a business owner, chances are you’re sitting on the cutting edge of technology, and what could be more cutting edge than an iPhone? The only thing more fun than showing your friends all the cool things your phone can do is actually using it to grow your business. We’re not claiming that all of these applications are going to make your business grow by leaps and bounds, but you might find some interesting ways to use them. And the rest? Well, everyone needs something fun to tinker with every now and then.

1. Facebook. Everyone’s favorite social networking addiction is now compatible with iPhone. The application allows you to take care of a lot of things you typically take care of from your desk like seeing status updates, chatting, uploading pictures, reading comments, accepting friend requests, and reading your mail.

2. Pandora. Pandora is a great music website that lets you pick the types of music you like and then chooses similar selections for you. Pandora for iPhone lets you listen to Pandora anywhere.

3. LinkedIn. LinkedIn allows you to find important contact information, update your status, read your own profiles or those of others, and get updates from the people in your network. This even lets you find LinkedIn contacts and import their information into your iPhone address book.

4. NYTimes. The coolest thing about this app is that it lets you store NYTimes content on your phone so that you can read it even when you’re not online.

5. Remote. This app allows you to use your iPhone just like a remote control for your desktop.

6. Instapaper. This application bookmarks web articles and copies them to your iPhone so that you can read them even when you’re not at your computer. The application formats the articles for a smaller display and makes them accessible even if you don’t have a connection to the internet.

7. Sportacular. This app provides standings, scores, news, and stats for professional and college sports.

8. Stanza. This is a reader that connects you with free titles on Internet libraries. You can download the e-books onto your iPhone and then read them on your own time, whether or not you’re connected to the Internet. Stanza also has a desktop application that will let you convert Word files or PDFs so that you can read them on your iPhone.

9. Now Playing. As the name suggests, this application gives you schedules for movies, plays movie trailers, and allows you to order tickets.

10. Wikipanion. Wikipedia articles are formatted to let you read them easily on your iPhone.

11. Twitterific. The plus to Twitterific is that it comes with its own mini-browser. This keeps you from having to close it and open the iPhone web browser in order to see links posted to Twitter.

12. Yelp. Yelp can determine your location using your iPhone and then provide you with reviews of local services from restaurants to dog parks anywhere in the US and in Canada.

You see? Not all of these applications are going to revolutionize your business, but they might just save you some time and make your life and little easier. And the time you save in the details could be time spent on the big picture of your business.
