If you’re serious about your search engine optimization efforts then you should be writing content on a regular basis. Search engines place a premium on content that readers find helpful and informative because the primary aim of search engines is to point users to websites that are closely related to the keywords that they enter into the search engines. The more helpful your information is, the more readers find it valuable, and the more likely they are to use the search engine that pointed them to that information again. It would be great if all of your target audience just wanted to come to your website everyday to read your latest insights, but chances are that your readers prefer varied media. Here are 7 ways to leverage for content for a diverse audience.

1.Write Articles. Turn some of your content into articles to be submitted to article directories. When you submit your article, be sure to include all pertinent information in the resource box. This will tell readers how to find you. Not only will they know where to go for more information, but they will be compelled to go to your website because your articles have helped you establish yourself as an expert in your field.
2.Write a Newsletter. Use the very same articles you submitted to article directories by putting them in your newsletter. You might need to alter them slightly to ensure that they include the personal touch that your newsletter subscribers probably expect from you, but you can also use them without alterations if you wish.

3.Blog. Articles make great blog posts if you divide them up into smaller, more digestible pieces.

4.Podcasts. Take the same article written for the article directory and record yourself reading it. Then turn it into a podcast or video. Many of your readers will find your articles more accessible if they can listen to them at the gym or in the car. And others will be interested in seeing what you look like. iTunes is a great place to share podcasts and YouTube is a great place to share videos.

5.Write a Book. If you find that you’ve written several articles on the same subject, consider turning them into an ebook. Make each article a separate chapter and then write some transitional material to make it all flow better.

6.Create a Course. Instead of turning each article into a chapter of a book, turn each article into a lesson for a course. You may want to enhance your articles by including worksheets or other material, and you’ll probably again find yourself needing to include transitional material. Each lesson can be sent out to your subscribers in an email.

7.Create a Membership Site. You may have already created a membership site where visitors pay a fee in order to see your content. If so, simply include your articles in that content. If you don’t have a membership site you may want to consider creating one. It’s yet another way to increase traffic to your website. The more people value your content, the more likely they are to come back again and to tell their friends about you.

If you’re going to spend the time creating good content for search engine optimization, then you might as well get as much mileage out of it as possible. There’s no substitute for good content, after all, and if you aren’t already writing then you should start right away. Contact an internet marketing professional to guide you through the process of writing optimized content that both human visitors and search engines will value. If you’re unfamiliar with any of the other strategies mentioned above such as blogging or writing a newsletter, an internet marketer or search engine optimization professional may be helpful as well in getting you up to speed.

SEO experts agree that one of the most important aspects of search engine optimization is writing great content. Great content naturally includes an appropriate number of keywords per page and keeps your reader engaged. Great content compels readers to link to you from their own sites, thereby increasing the number of inbound links to your page and increasing your exposure to other potential customers. Finally, great content is simply useful. It gives your readers the information they’re looking for and allows them to build trust in your competence. So how do you go about writing great content? Here are 8 tips:

1. Relevance. The key to great content is relevance. Pick a topic and stick with it. If this means that you need another article or another blog post in order to address a topic related to, but not exactly like, the topic you’re addressing, then so be it. But don’t...

But don’t ramble and don’t introduce too many ideas on one page.

2.	Proofread. The number one way to make readers question your professionalism is to show them that you can’t write, so double-check for spelling and grammatical errors. You don’t want readers looking for another site to visit simply because your writing was not up to par.

3.	Usefulness. There is no point in publishing optimized content that isn’t useful. As mentioned above, the point of great content is to help readers build trust in your abilities and to give them the information that they’re looking for. Useless content is a waste of your time and wastes the time of your potential customers who won’t think twice about researching a competitor who will give them the information they’re looking for.

4.	Provide Answers. Sit down and think of all the questions that a potential customer might ask you. Start at the very beginning, pretending you’re a customer who knows absolutely nothing about your business and is just starting to research whatever it is that you’re selling. Then write content that answers those questions. Be sure to avoid using jargon. Write in terms that the average visitor will understand.

5.	Make the Answer Easy to Find. If visitors to your site can’t easily find pricing information, shipping information, or any other pertinent information quickly and easily, you can count on losing their business. Any information that a visitor might need should be readily available without requiring a hunt.

6.	Descriptions. Make sure you include lots of information about how to use each of your products. Also include in-depth descriptions. If you don’t offer these suggestions and descriptions, and your competitor does, your competitor will get the business of the person who just clicked away from your site. Picking up the phone to ask for details is considered a waste of time, so don’t make your potential customers have to do extra work that they don’t want to do. Give them all the info they need.

7.	Unique Content. Slideshows, interactive games, photo galleries, and top ten lists are all great ways to engage readers and compel them to link to your from their own sites. The key is to continue to make this content relevant. If the content isn’t relevant, then visitors will not only question your professionalism, but your ability to stay focused on their needs.

8.	Readability. Most internet searchers scan sites rather than reading everything on a page, so your content should be laid out in a way that lends itself to scanning. Short paragraphs, bullets, numbers, and subheadings are great ways to break up the content into manageable pieces. If your content is too hard to digest, visitors will leave as quickly as they came.

Make sure your content is relevant, engaging, and well organized. You’ll be on your way to turning your visitors into clients rather than folks who just click by for awhile before heading somewhere else.

Given the popularity of blogs, and the importance of blogs in creating inbound links to your business website, you’d think that they’d already be equipped with perfect semantic web markup. But you’d be wrong. Of course, these errors aren’t going to make or break your business, but you’ll be ahead of the game if you’ll address some of the problems yourself. Here are 5 areas that you’ll want to address as you’re correcting the semantic web markup on your blog:

Given the popularity of blogs, and the importance of blogs in creating inbound links to your business website, you’d think that they’d already be equipped with perfect semantic web markup. But you’d be wrong. Of course, these errors aren’t going to make or break your business, but you’ll be ahead of the game if you’ll address some of the problems yourself. Here are 5 areas that you’ll want to address as you’re correcting the semantic web markup on your blog:

1.	Page Titles. There’s no way to get around the importance of a page title as it relates to search engine rankings. Search engines take the contents of your “title” tag and put those contents in the search results that they display. Some blog platforms do a good job of handling page titles such that the page titles are displayed optimally within search engine results pages. But many times the platforms preface the page title with the name of the blog, which may or may not have any significance for an internet user, particularly if the name of your blog has little or nothing to do with the title of the page that your user is looking for.

Another reason to pay attention to page titles is that search engines don’t read content, they scan it. So your page titles should be as relevant to the subject contained on the web page as possible.

2.	Logos and Taglines. Many blog platforms contain site logos within an “h1″ tag, which may not appear to be problematic at the outset. The problem, however, is that the “h1″ tag, aside from your “title” tag, should provide the most important information about your webpage to both searchers and search engines. Instead, you should be using the “h1″ tag to give search engines and human searchers the most important information you can about the contents of your webpage. To fix the problem, try putting your blog title inside a “div” tag.

So what to do with that “h1″ tag? Put your tagline within that tag on your homepage. Make your tagline specific and compelling so that searchers will know exactly what they can expect from your webpage. Put in within “h2″ and “h3″ tags in your secondary webpages. It should never appear to be more important than the title of the page or the title of the post.

3.	Post Titles. Your post title is the most important information you can provide to a search engine, so make sure it’s not hiding within an “h2″ tag. Instead, put it inside an “h1″ tag so that searchers and search engines will know exactly what they will find on a particular page. There should only be one set of “h1″ tags on each of your pages, so take advantage of them and use them wisely.

4.	Sub-Headlines. SEO experts and internet marketing professionals emphasize the importance of relevant, well-laid-out content in the quest for increased search engine rankings. And one of the best ways to lay out content within a blog is to use sub-sections to break up the material into easy-to-digest pieces. Since the title of your post should be in an “h1″ tag, then it certainly makes sense to put sub-headings within “h2″ tags, but if they’re currently in “h3″ tags then it’s probably too much trouble to change them now.

5.	Sidebar Headlines. Several blog platforms put sidebar headlines within “h2″ tags. The problem with this is that most sidebar headlines don’t have much relevance to your actual page content, so you’re wasting a valuable “h2″ tag on something that won’t make much difference. The most value you should give them is an “h3″ or “h4″ tag. In the case that your sidebar headlines are actually quite relevant, you may want to put them in “h3″ tags; otherwise “h4″ tags are most appropriate.

Don’t count on your blog platform to mark up your page well. Do it yourself and see the results!

SEO experts and internet marketing professionals know that the key to online business success is great content on your website. Your website is the first, and maybe the only, chance to make an impression on potential customers, so it has to have great content. Having a good-looking site isn’t enough. It needs to be organized well, it needs to be easy to read, and it has to contain relevant information. Most of all, it has to be compatible with the attention spans of internet surfers who tend to skim content rather than reading every word. As you’re creating content for your website, keep these 5 keys in mind:

SEO experts and internet marketing professionals know that the key to online business success is great content on your website. Your website is the first, and maybe the only, chance to make an impression on potential customers, so it has to have great content. Having a good-looking site isn’t enough. It needs to be organized well, it needs to be easy to read, and it has to contain relevant information. Most of all, it has to be compatible with the attention spans of internet surfers who tend to skim content rather than reading every word. As you’re creating content for your website, keep these 5 keys in mind:

1.	Concise Writing. One of the greatest temptations of content creation is to include every single detail about your company. This is a natural tendency given your own excitement and passion about your business. But put yourself in the shoes of your prospective customer and think about what information you would like to glean from a business website, particularly how your product or service can help your customer solve a particular challenge or problem. And after you’ve finished writing, cut your word count in half!

2.	Clean Layout. SEO professionals know that a potential customer reads only 20% of a website’s content. Reach out and grab your website visitor by using catchy headings, writing in short paragraphs, using bullets to make your points, and bolding important words and phrases. Your headings should guide your visitors to your page’s content so that they can easily find whatever they’re looking for. Bullet points draw a reader’s eye to short, easy-to-digest content that gives them pertinent information.

3.	Keywords. Before you begin writing your content, research your keywords. Keywords are the words and phrases that web users type into search engines to find webpages related to the topics they’re looking for. If you use the keywords on your webpage that your potential customers are typing into search engines, then your webpage will show up in the search engine results.

4.	Easy-to-Read Language. One of the greatest pitfalls of content creation is using lingo only familiar to people within your niche. Have someone who knows nothing at all about your business read your content before you publish to make sure that the average reader will understand it. Avoid technical language at all costs.

5.	Quality Content. Visitors to your website are looking for relevant, helpful, high-quality content. They are visiting because they have a problem to solve or a challenge to overcome, so make sure that your content delivers a solution. Remember that great content is not content that you find compelling, but content that your visitors find compelling. Start by writing an article that solves a problem that a potential customer might have. Then consider turning that article into an ebook that potential customers might be willing to download. You may consider starting a blog to share your ideas. Invite your friends and family to comment at the beginning until you get a larger following. Then consistently join in the conversation that takes place on your blog.

Above all, make sure that your content is free to your potential customers. If you start asking your visitors to leave their email addresses and other contact information, they’re going to leave as quickly as they arrived.

The days of low-quality websites are behind us. If you want to be competitive then you have to have a website that not only looks good, but offers relevant information to visitors.
